The pilot musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) epidemiological surveillance network in the Pays de la Loire region set up by the Institut de veille sanitaire in 2002 provides original data on the prevalence of MSDs and their risk factors in the working population. In 2002 and 2003, through to a sentinel network of 80 volunteer occupational physicians, 2 685 employees representative of employees in the region were randomly selected for the study.
