This paper examines archaeological evidence dating to a "transitional" period between the Early and Middle Bronze Ages in the Euphrates Valley of Syria. Specifically, it examines the pottery assemblage from the site of Tell Kabir, which clearly possesses typological characteristics linking it to both periods. Second, the paper examines the nature of settlement during the EB-MB period. An investigation of several Euphrates sites with EB-MB transitional occupation shows that sedentary communities continued to exist and flourish at this time, although urban centres and a centralized state authority appear to be absent.Cet article analyse le matériel archéologique datant de la période de transition entre le Bronze Ancien et Moyen dans la vallée...
