The aim of this article is to identify the place attached to artists, or that they claim themselves, in the written mediations of their works of art, that are distributed through exhibit institutions of contemporary art. That is why we study among the texts which constitute in the exhibition the last link often elliptical of a framework of texts that runs like a rhizome through the bases of an underworld that suffersfrom a lack of gratitude the different way words of artists are quoted. Our hypothesis is that these quotations constitute a privileged zone where identity and power relations between artists and professionnals are revealed.
