This article presents our analysis of the permanent exhibition at the Raw Art Museum (musée de l'Art Brut) in Lausanne, Switzerland. This exhibition can be viewed as an communicational artefact that takes on multiple meanings according to the various ways it is received by visitors. Nevertheless, in order for it to be constituted and understood, this artefact should include a series of operating instructions. The author, an informed visitor, tried to bring out its structure by interpreting data on both production and réception of the exhibition.
