The absolute chronology obtained by dendrochronology on the lake sites of Chalain and Clairvaux extends between the 38th and 24th centuries ВС. The period studied is concentrated between the 32nd and 30th centuries ВС. The archaeological excavations primarily related to these three centuries with a favoured chronological episode for the 31st and 30th centuries ВС. During this period of time acculturation and demographic growth were most marked. Over the past thirty years or so, excavation campaigns on these two lakes have created optimal conditions to describe the development of these village communities.
