The article attempts to examine the question of the community of practices by focusing on the use of a role-playing game by a group of six boys, born in 1972, who have been playing since 1984. The first part describes the main features of role-playing games: simulation, biographical invention, narrative structure and ordered imaginary universes. One can examine how the meanings of the stories are constructed and to what extent they can be shared. The central aim of the study reveals the processes by which the game shapes a peer group. Specific resources found in the game contribute to the elaboration of egalitarian procedures. The rupture of the mechanisms maintenance balance between the members is analysed.
