Rural labour markets : between paternalism influence and job matching difficulties In this contribution, rural space is regarded as characterised mainly by low density of population and jobs and by small size of the firms. The impact of these characteristics on the labour market is analysed. Two hypotheses are tested : matching difficulties and existence of paternalism. Matching difficulties appear to play a role in the selection of the rural labour markets' actors. Wage determination and job stability seem to depend mainly on the social relationships which may link employers and employees outside the production sphere.
