It is often assumed that the increase of unemployment during last ten years has slackened migration out of agriculture, but the usual causes of outmigration have continued to be at work. In spite of their deficiencies, evaluations from INSEE surveys suggest - waiting for later examination - that the ratio of farmers'sons entering agricultural activity would be a little higher in 1982 than in 1977, at 20-24 years age and 25-29. The past trend of increasing outmigration would be reversed or at least stopped. Among daughters, the evolution is less obvious. And male migration remains important.
