Mécanisation de l'agriculture et industrie du machinisme agricole : le cas du marché français

Until 1974 the mechanization of French farming developed in favourable circumstances ; so much so that it orientated if it did not dominate the technical model adopted during the farm industrialization period. This is due to three factors : an increase in labour costs, a rapid decrease in the active farm population, and conditions favouring the granting of loans for equipment. With the sudden change in the economic situation as a result of the oil crisis the dynamics of the farm machinery branch were modified. The aim of this article is to follow its re-orientations over the period 1956-1976. In order to do this two main periods must be distinguished — the period of the expansion or spreading of the mechanical model (1956-65) and the period of mere renewal of the market (1966-1976). In particular the following relationships will be pointed out : — the relationship between the dynamics of the home market and industrial structuring — the relationship between the dynamics of the home market and the modification of the range of products. The main hypotheses concerning the strategies of the machinery industry when faced with the relative structuring of farm markets will be worked out from this analysis.Si la mécanisation de l'agriculture nationale a bénéficié jusqu'en 1974 d'une conjoncture favorable — au point, du reste, d'orienter sinon de dominer le modèle technique adopté pendant la période d'industrialisation de l'agriculture — elle le doit surtout à trois facteurs : l'augmentation du coût de la main d 'œuvre, la diminution rapide de la population active agricole, les conditions favorables à l'obtention des crédits d'équipement. Avec la brusque modification de la conjoncture économique liée à la crise pétrolière, ta dynamique de la branche machinisme agricole se modifie. Afin d'en suivre les réorientations sur lia période 1956-1976, on distingue deux grandes périodes : la période d'expansion ou de diffusion du modèle mécanique (1956-65), la période de simple renouvellement du marché (1966-1976). On analyse en particulier la relation entre dynamique du marché interne et structuration industrielle, ainsi que la relation entre dynamique du marché interne et modification de la gamme des produits. A partir de cette analyse sont élaborées les principales hypothèses relatives aux stratégies de l'industrie du machinisme face à la structuration relative des marchés agricoles.Byé Pascal.
