A multidisciplinary research of a peat-bog localized 10 km away of Nevado Sabancaya volcano was done. Geomorphological study shows that the peat-bog formed in a closed depression dammed by an ancient terminal moraine of the Ampato glacier. 14C-ages demonstrate that the studied sequence corresponds essentially to the lower Holocene. Diatom determinations show that a lake flooded the peat-bog at about 8400 aBP. Sedimentological analyses allowed us to distinguish fluviatile layers and one or two tephra beds. The overall results show that the 1990 current eruption of Nevado sabancaya volcano occurred after a quiescence period of at least 8500 years.Une étude multidisciplinaire d'une tourbière située à 10 km du volcan Nevado Sabancaya a été réal...
