The Chinchon 1 cave, in Vaucluse (Saumanes), has yielded a fauna in association with Upper Paleolithic industry. Its revision permitted to indicate the association Saiga tatanca-Rangifer tarandus, which is unique in Provence, and the existence of Mammuthus pnrimigemus and Megaceros sp. which are two exceptional species in this area. The variation of the faunal assemblage along the stratigraphy reflects the climatic evolution which occures at the end of the Upper Pleistocene.
