La recherche mégalithique en Catalogne. Passé, présent et avenir

ABSTRACT Since the 1970s the traditional theses about megalithic phenomena in Catalonia, originally exposed by L. Péricot (1950), have been revised. This review included improved knowledge of the architectonic typologies, and the re-examination of grave goods and contexts, which finally confirmed the appearance of the first megalithic manifestations during the 4th millennium ВС. The first megalithic signs are evident in three geographical groups with special characteristic special features : — the complex barrows of the Ta- vertet area in inland Catalonia, at the beginning of the 4th millennium ВС, with artefacts connected with the Montbolo group —the "Solsonià", small chambers under barrow, towards the end of the 4th millennium ВС, with artefacts typical of the Catalan Middle Neolithic ; —the "Empordanès", near the coast, with the same chronology as the other group, represented by passage graves with some extraneous elements connected with the southern Chassey.RÉSUMÉ Les thèses traditionnelles sur le mégalithisme en Catalogne proposées par L. Péricot en 1950 ont fait l'objet de révisions depuis les années soixante-dix, qui ont permis une meilleure connaissance des typologies architectoniques et un nouvel examen des dépôts funéraires. C'est ainsi qu'on confirme l'apparition des premières manifestations mégalithiques au IVe millénaire. Actuellement les premiers monuments mégalithiques apparaissent distribués en trois groupes géographiques aux particularités bien distinctes : —les tumulus complexes du Ta- vertet en Catalogne intérieure, datés au début du IVe millénaire avec du matériel qui peut être mis en relation avec le groupe de Montbolo ; — le Solsonià, caractérisé par des petites chambres protégées par un tumulus, datées de la fin du IVe millénaire avec du matériel caractéristique du Néolithique moyen catalan ; — le groupe de l'Empordanès, près de la côte, appartient à la même chronologie que les deux autres.
