Apport des techniques statistiques et informatiques aux méthodes et aux théories de l'archéologie

ABSTRACT The contributions of quantitative methods and data processing to Archaeology are discussed here, not in terms of results from new applications, but in termes of influencing the evolution of methods and theory in Archaeology. It is particularly demonstrated that the contributions of modern technologies could be useful in Archaeology only if they can be integrated in a méthodologie and epistomologic frame to build, of which some illustrative elements are given here. On the success of this fundamental work, depends the future of Archaeology as a scientific discipline.RESUME Les apports des techniques quantitatives et de l'informatique en archéologie sont discutés ici, non pas en termes de résultats de nouvelles applications, mais en termes d'influences sur l'évolution des méthodes et des théories en Archéologie. Il y est particulièrement mis en évidence le fait que la contribution des technologies modernes ne pourra pleinement être profitable à l'Archéologie que si elle peut s'intégrer dans un cadre méthodologique et épistémologique à construire, cadre dont on fournit ici quelques éléments illustratifs. De la réussite de ce travail fondamental, dépend l'avenir de l'Archéologie comme discipline scientifique.Djindjian François.
