In 1994, a post-glacial landslide complex was reactivated in the Prealps of Fribourg, causing the destruction of a village. The landslide mass is composed of superficial deposits (debris-flows) resting on bedrock (Flysch) and on top of glacial deposits (moraine). New monitoring methods were applied to understand the event and to predict the further evolution of the landslide. This catastrophic reactivation confirms the importance of detailed mapping of unstable zones in such areas.
