La prospezione aerea nello studio dell'urbanistica delle poleis greche siceliote

In den letzten 30 Jahren verzeichnete die Forschung der griechischer Stätten von Sizilien grosse Fortschritte. Wir kennen heute die wesentlichen topographischen Aspekte der kolonialen Einrichtungen, sowohl des Altertums als auch der klassischen Epoche. Äusserst vollstandige Ergebnisse wurden vor allem hinsichtlich Städtebau und Stadtplanung erzielt. Insbesondere die Luftprospektion hat den gere- gelten Stadttyp der früheren Stâtten von Syracus, Casmen, Camarina, Agrigento und Selinunte sichtbar werden lassen, die sogenannten Kolonien oder "ippodemei". Die Luftaumahmen haben Anstoss zu Studien städtebaulicher Einrichtungen gegeben, die eine grundlegende Errungenschaft dieser abendlän- dischen Zivilisation darstellt.Over the last thirty years research on Sicilian Greek towns has substantially progressed. Today we are aware of the main topographical features of the colonial settlements, Achean or classical. Research has yielded well detailed results, especially on town planning and the organisation of urban space. It has benefitted from a major contribution, aerial photography, and particularly on such ancient sites as Syracuse, Casmene, Camarina, Agrigento and Selinunte : town planning on a regular plan has been evidenced, typical of so called "colonial" settlements or "hippodomian". In this way aerial photography has allowed the study of these urban settlements, basic advances of our western civilisation, to begin in earnest.Ces dernières trente années, la recherche sur les villes grecques de Sicile a connu de sérieux progrès. Aujourd'hui nous connaissons les principaux aspects de la topographie des installations coloniales, soit d'époque achéenne ou classique. Des résultats très complets ont été obtenus, surtout dans les recherches sur l'urbanisme et l'organisation des espaces urbains. La prospection aérienne a apporté une contribution essentielle, en particulier pour les sites anciens de Syracuse, Casmène, Camarina, Agrigente et Selinonte et met en évidence un urbanisme de type régulier, typique des installations dites « coloniales » ou « hippodamiennes ». La photographie aérienne a permis ainsi de commencer l'étude de ces installations urbaines qui constituent l'une des conquêtes fondamentales de la civilisation occidentale.Di Stefano Giovanni.
