Exporting to Japan: French Resources - Exchanges with Japan take a secondary role in the overall figures of French foreign trade. But they show a strong deficit: France sells to Japan only half as much as it buys from it and the deficit was nearly 30 billion francs in 1990. France is, on the whole, less present in Japan than some of its partners (the United-Kingdom and Italy) even though it has a larger share of the world market. This poor performance can be explained first by a French supply which does not fully correspond to the Japanese demand.
