French Productivity from 1970 to 1989: a Sectorial Analysis - The productivity of economy as a whole is the result of the aggregation of the productivity levels in each sector. These sectorial levels are very different. They not only depend on the productive balance used (that is, the capital intensity), but also on the quantity and quality of the factors of production (that is, the qualification of workers, the technology and the age of the capital). Over the last twenty years, sectorial differences in productivity were, in general, unchanged, and, in industry, sometimes even increased.
