Jewish Universalism according to Jacques Faitlovitch The article examines the movements formed in the 1940s and 1950s in Eretz Israel that tended to favour the conception of universal Judaism founded on a religious rather than ethnic view of Judaism. The work of Jacques Faitlovitch, known mainly as the « father » of the Beta Israel, led to the formation of several committees interested in the search for the nidhe Israel (the dispersed of Israel) with the aim of organising their emigration to Israel. Various influential figures supported these movements, which came to be veritable committees for missionary activity.
