A selective world : voluntary associations - Voluntary associations in France affect a large number of people : nearly one man out of every two, and one woman out of three are involved. But the most successful organizations, notably those for sports and senior citizens, hardly correspond to the definition of an associative movement, that is the propagation of a common idea, but rather provide a form of entertainment.
