Breaks in growth and technical progress - 1974 marked a break in french growth, which was accompanied by a break in labor productivity. These breaks, which became more pronouced after 1979, received technological interpretations. In order to appreciate their validity, a detailed quantitative analysis is necessary. The recent evolutions must be relied with the long run ones, and the results got for France compared with thoses available for other developped countries. Conceptual and statistical difficulties bring to adopt a progressive approach, starting from partial productivities of labor and capital, to go to global productivity of factors and then to « technical progress ».
