A Reduction in Regional Disparities in Wages - The difference in wages between Paris and provincial France has decreased significantly, although it remains considerable. The provincial regions which are situated at the extremities of the distribution are growing closer. However, the year 1974 marked a slowdown in this convergence. Major structural changes, particularly in the sex and the level of skills of the labor force, accompanied this trend. A « structural- residual » method of analysis reveals effects of structural deformation.
