British Government Finance : Myth and Reality - There has been considerable controversy over the role of the public sector in the United Kingdom. For some, it is viewed as a privileged means of regulating demand, while for others it is the primary cause of the difficulties afflicting the British economy. Based on certain comparisons with other countries and on a number of studies that have been published on the subject, the authors arrive at a more shaded conclusion.
