Salaries and Employment Problems in Regional France - Are certain departments or regions less fortunate than others from the point of view of salaries, unemployment, and ability to compete effectively? More particularly, are the departments with the lowest salary levels also those in which the majority of activities meet with strong competition from abroad and, especially, from Third-World countries? The answer to these questions is, as one would expect, complex, for the salary situation in each individual region has a long history and displays pronounced features of its own.
