Outset, rise and closing down of large industrial enterprises by Michel HANNOUN The evolution of industrial structures, in particular the location of productive activities, is broadly conditioned by the existence of the large establishments. These come to know fluctuations of demographic types such as opening and closing down, which play an important part in the evolution of numerous economic variables, especially occupation. The present study endeavours to emphasize the specificity of the establishments' behaviour in the course of the first and of the last years of their existence.
