The Far North of Madagascar is a country rich in ancient littoral deposits. There can be found in several places fossile coral reefs lifted up to different levels, and combined, on the eastern front facing the alizé, with sandhills the most ancient of which have become red and turned to sandstone. Having found Aepyornis there, we can link up the whole of this series with the Aepyornian in the Far South of the Island. Just as in the Far South the final disposition has been reached through three different marine transgressions (Tatsimian, Kanmbohan and Flandnan) and during the intercoming regressions.
