Summary. — Different observation methods of dental microwear have already been proposed. After a review of the known micro lesions and those usually studied, this article describes their modes of onset which indicate which dental surfaces are to be studied. Known methods are described, the more recent ones being based on electron microscopy. We then propose our own method which, using ordinary chemicals and optical microscopy, allies simplicity and low cost for only a slight loss of precision in normal cases. Results can be compared directly to those of other authors.
