CONTEMPORARY PHENOTYPIC MODIFICATIONS AND MATRIMONIAL MIGRATIONS Summary. — This study of two homogeneous samples of rural populations originating from french provinces of Poitou and Savoy (the size of the commune was less than 1000 inhabitants) has brought tangible evidence of a statural and debrachycephalization increase with increasing distance between parental birth places. It is shown that such modifications, which reproduce the phenotypic trends among present-day populations, must be considered as the result of a consanguinity decrease with distance, and thus of the progressive break-down of isolates due to an increasing mobility of populations.Résumé. — Sur l'exemple de deux échantillons homogènes de population rurale (agglomération ...
