Coastal erosion management in Normandy and Picardy, based on a restrictive administrative division out of touch with the scale of the natural phenomena, has gone no further than rigid and confined coastal defence policies in response to crisis periods. Recently, this has induced the territorial institutions ofthe two districts to think about a general partnership to deal with coastal erosion. Because of the poor reliability and spatial and temporal representativity of previous studies, the firststep of this interregional cooperation was to establish a reliable and homogeneous quantification and survey method of coastal dynamics.
