Zusammenfassung : Dieser Artikel analysiert das Bild des Wallis, das die Reisenden des 18. und 19. Jh. durch ihre Reiseberichte hinterlassen haben. Nachdem der Autor ihre Reisen durch die helvetische Alpenregion im Kontext der Alpenentdeckung und damaligen Art des Reisens dargestellt hat, untersucht er die verschiedenen Reiserouten und ihr Einfluss auf die Wahrnehmung des Kantons. In einem zweiten Teil, befasst er sich mit dem Bild des Wallis an sich. Er behandelt den Prozess des Entstehens, von der Lektiire und/oder vorangegangenen Reisen bis hin zum fertigen Bild des Reisenden, das Representation und Beobachtung synthetisiert.
