Regional newspapers and urban influence. The example of the netherlands. Newspapers seem to provide a convenient and comparatively synthetic method of measuring the sphere of influence of a town. Its use, however, on the level of the urban network of a state is complicated by the scarcity and the confidential nature of the sources, and by difficulties of interpretation arising from recent developments in the daily press (mergers, agreements, syndication of advertisements). It was possible to study the example of the Netherlands thanks to established statistics. One can conclude from this example that a newspaper does not indicate any scale of importance.
