Exchange of energy. War, identity and social reproduction among the Yagua of Peruvian Amazon. The author, after a sketch of the history of peaceful and hostile relationships of the Yagua with their neighbors, shows that warfare is for them a modality of an exchange relationship, and can only be understood with regard to an indigenous energetic theory of the universe. There is a gradation of the modalities of agression among the Yagua, to which correspond degrees of social other-ness (according to their classification) and which implicate social groups of growing size and complexity.
