Summary. — This paper reviews the main results of recent investigations dealing with Quaternary glaciations in the Cascades (Lat. 47° - 49° N) and in the Southern Andes (Lat. 40° - 42° S). There is evidence that events of the last glaciation were simultaneous in both hemispheres, at least in a gross sense. The monoglacial hypothesis which was recently suggested for the Andes appears to be no longer valid. The Chilean lake region is especially suited, for research in the field of glacial geomor- phology. Precise data regarding correlation between glacial events of the two Andean slopes are still lacking. Consequently, more investigations in the Andes are needed before establishing further comparisons with the northern hemisphere.Résumé. — L'...
