Two categories of factors have to be considered in order to understand the French unemployment problem and, therefore, to bring solutions: —the first category of factors is constituted by the whole set of regulations which are introducing rigidities on the labour market and prevent adjustment between labour supply and demand. The minimum wage is one of them . But all other labour regulations also play a role, for instance the legal definition of the working time.
