The international solvency ratio has been adopted by Central Bank's Governors of G 10 countries in July 1988. This ratio has two main goals : 1) strengthen international banks solvency, 2) equalize competition conditions. The system is based on a risk assets ratio. Banks must comply with a minimum level of 8% of net capital base regarding their counterparty risks. French banks have an important effort to make which appears to be at hand. At the end of 1988, the level reached was already 7,5 %, calculation being made according to the definitive scheme. To comply with the 1992 level, French banks will have to make an effort of 50 billion francs of capital base, assuming a risks annual increase of 5 % .Le ratio international de solvabilité a é...
