Les monnaies spécifiques de Strasbourg (1682-1690)

Abstract. - The studies on the money in Alsace are old and fragmentary. Their sources are very seldom quoted and are not devoid of errors. Willingly or unwillingly, generations of authors have not resorted to original documents ; they merely repeated what was written. As most of the archives concerning the Mint of Strasbourg have been lost, numerous problems could be solved and inaccuracies could be rectified due to the other stocks throughout the town. Therefore it is possible to imagine the conditions under which were created in 1 682 the « XXX Sols de Strabourg » and its subsidiary coins, which were minted not only for a local circulation, but also for the whole Province of Alsace recently subject to the authority of the King of France.
