Abstract. - The reduced-weight rhodian drachms struck at the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 2nd с B.C. had the same weight as the small current denominations of this period (the attic tetrobol and the aeginetan triobol). Although the rhodian monetary system had a « closed » caracter, they circulated widely, notably in mainland Greece and in Crete together with the imitation coins, the so-called pseudo-rhodian drachms. These latter were struck in a certain number of mints of the abovementio- ned areas and in Asia Minor too. Frequently numerous, they were usually contemporaneous with their Alexander tetradrachms, as were the genuine reduced - weight rhodian drachms.
