Abstract This paper presents a thesis analysing the reproduction of the breton lower gentry over the long term. The method consists of reconstituting all sorts of facts from all possible sources within lineages. Geographical mobility, and mostly social mobility can be observed over several generations. Impoverishment of the younger branches is the preponderant phenomenon. Vertical movements seem to be greater in the XVIth century than in the XVIIIth c...
