EUX, NOUS AND MOI : SYSTEMS OF VISIBILITY The semiotic approach proposed here starts from a simple observation, namely, that nominalisation in French is possible for certain personal pronouns : upon the grammatical and functional system of deictics such as je/nous studied by linguists, a second system, of a conceptual order, is super-imposed, which is lexicalised by common nouns like « le moi » or « le nous ». These elements help to construct a problematic in which individual and collective subjects (maintaining the distinction between « public » and « private » life) are staged.
