ENG : Landscape ! systematic sampling, G.I.SThis paper presents upon two complementary approaches in order to estimate and quantify the visual impact of water in landscape. The first one is based on the analysis of 55 photographs taken along a river according to a systematic sampling procedure. It allows us to establish a landscape typology. The second method uses numerical layers inside a G.I.S. This data base gives us means to map the complex visual relationships between water and other landscape components.Brossard Thierry, Wieber Jean-Claude, Joly Daniel.
