The collection edited by Daniel Gaxie is not an extensive evaluation of electoral studies it aims at reformulating the sociological explanation of voting, and sets the study of voting within political sociology and social history. After describing the three parts of the work (« Electoral mobilization », « Voting and position in the social world », « Voting and the nature of political markets »), the article dwells on three concepts : « political firms and goods », « symbolic Systems and sub-cultures », «electoral instability ».
