Presidentialism affects the life of both the Socialist Party and its factions. Without a candidate to the Elysee, no faction has a chance of winning or even surviving. Party timetables and ideological debutes are geared to the presidential candidacy. As for the party's institutional program, it has gradually moved towards an acceptance of the Constitution in ils Gaullist practice. From 1965 (Mitterrand's candidacy, FGDS) to the 1981 Program, revisionist themes have been increasingly given up to the point where there is full adherence, except for proposals which do not threaten the general economy of the System.Le présidentialisme marque la vie du PS mais aussi des courants qui le divisent. Sans candidat à l'Elysée, aucune tendance n'a de chance de l'emporter ou de survivre. L'ensemble des échéances internes, des débats idéologiques sont calculés en fonction de la candidature présidentielle. Quant au programme institutionnel du PS, il a marqué un infléchissement constant dans le sens de l'acceptation de la Constitution dans sa pratique gaullienne. De 1965 (candidature Mitterrand, FGDS) au Programme de 1981, l'abandon des différents thèmes de révision s'est accéléré au point d'aboutir aujourd'hui à un ralliement complet et à des propositions de révision qui ne portent pas atteinte à l'économie générale du système.Portelli Hugues.
