The attitude of the european parliament Nicole Braun The European Parliament has conducted long sessions, in 1963 and in 1967-1968, on the problem of the cntry of Great Britain into the E.E.C. even though this problem is not within its competence. The Parliament has thus endeavoured to support Great Britain's application, and express its solidarity with the Commission. Convinced that the time has come to open negotiations the members of Parliament have also started preparing the technological community of the Seven. After the French veto on 19th December the Parliament took a middle-of-the-way position : it was in favour of reaching a compromise, and, above all, of preserving the Community.L'attitude duparlementeuropéen Nicole Braun Le Parlement européen a tenu des débats approfondis, tant en 1963 qu'en 1967-1968, sur la question de l'entrée de la Grande-Bretagne dans la C.E.E., qui cependant ne relève pas de sa compétence directe. Le Parlement a voulu ainsi appuyer la candidature britannique, et exprimer sa solidarité avec la Commission. Convaincus de l'opportunité d'ouvrir les négociations, les parlementaires se sont aussi préoc­cupés de préparer la Communauté technologique à Sept. Après le veto français du 19 décembre, le Parlement a pris une position modérée : il a préconisé la réalisation d'un compromis et, en priorité, la sauvegarde de la Communauté.Braun Nicole.
