Framing and Controlling the Propaganda Documentary During the Occupation, Jean-Pierre Bertin-Maghit. Among the propaganda instruments in occupied France, the documentary was co-opted and put into the service of the ideologies of the Vichy government, the collaborationists and of the Nazi occupier. These images harken back to the fights of influence among the various emitters. The documentaries adopted specific styles for each type ofpropagated discourse. It is thus possible to establish a chronicle of these films through the four years of Occupation.
