The Revue Economique (1950-1980) and the rise of mainstream economics The paper studies the birth, functioning and content of a leading French economic journal during three decades. The founders of the journal were in favour of a pluridisplinary approach in which political economy would be connected to history and sociology: they were not successful in this respect. Based on a study of the content of the journal, this paper stresses the sharp rise of mainstream economics in the journal during the 60's, and examines some caracterisees of the related authors.
