Production of labor forces by mean of labor forces ? According to Lapidus [1993] the problem of the hierarchy of wages in Marx's theory may be solved by taking into account formative work. This one would transmit ils own ability to produce value to the labor forces it trains. Introducing « conventions » to explain wages hierarchies (as in Poulain [1992]) would therefore be useless. We show in this paper that such a solution is inaccurate, and contradicts Marx's theory as well as a sound interpretation of the stylised facts observed in the contemporary wage society.
