It is both a cause and consequence of the surge in employment. In Europe, on the other the labour force grows less rapidly than the population aged over while employment decreases. At the same time the growth of aggregate real wages, though in magnitude, follows opposite patterns in the United States on the hand, and in Europe and particularly in the United Kingdom on other.
