Roussel (Louis). - Divorce: Beyond the Sociographie Approach The intention of this paper is to show the recent changes in divorce cannot be explained by factors which make it increasingly easy to break a union. Sociographie is undoubtedly useful in identifying social environments in which the frequency of divorce is high, but it is not sufficient. The most important cause that underlies recent movements is the way in which the marriage model itself is changing and becoming more fragile. Such a perspective does not in any way lessen the need for demographic data.
