In this paper an interpretation is attempted of the reasons why correlation between economic growth and population growth in developing countries is generally not significant. It begins by reminding the reader that this absence of correlation is not inconsistent with an adverse effect of demographic growth on economic growth, if it is assumed that economic growth has a positive impact on population growth.
