SUMMARY. In this paper, fluctuations in nuptiality are studied by investigating fluctuations in the numbers of births, similar to those which have been registered in France since 1914. The model assumes random choice of partners within a given circle of relationships, which will depend on age. It also examines fluctuations in the numbers who never marry, in the mean age at marriage (both the period and the cohort measure), and in the distribution of the joint ages of brides and grooms.RESUMEN. El articulo se refiere a las perturbaciones de la nupcialidad a troves de la fluctuación del numero de nacimientos, semejantes a las que se han producido en Francia desde 1914. El modelo usado es el de matrimonio al azar al interior de circulos de relaciones, puesto que la edad interviene en la elección; se examinan ademàs las variaciones del celibato definitivo, la edad media al matrimonio (en longitudinal y transversal) y las edad es cruzadas de los esposos.Henry Louis.
