We describe the faunal remains from Biq'at Quneitra : an open air Mousterian site on the Golan. Most of these remains belonged to large species. Equids and a large bovid, probably the aurochs, were the most abundant. A comparison with later assemblages from Ein Gev reveals a trend through time. While the remains of large species are most common at Biq'at Quneitra, those of medium sized animals are more common in the Upper Palaeolithic. Epipalaeolithic assemblages are dominated by the remains of a small artiodactyl : the gazelle.
